Subject: Dr. Margaret Werkheimer addresses GMO opposition
Dear [Insert Person or Organization here],
Dr. Margaret Werkheimer, an American Medical Organization (AMO) board member and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) researcher, addressed opponents of GMOs during a press conference on February 18, 2019.
Controversy arose after the World Food Prize, a prize given to individuals working to improve the quality, quantity and availability of food, was awarded to scientists using GMOs when developing food. Opponents of GMOs immediately argued that the chemicals used in the growing of this food is detrimental to people’s health and modern-day agricultural tactics.
Highlighting the health and safety benefits of GMOs, Dr. Werkheimer used her past research, including tests and lab reports, to counteract those claims and support the use of GMOs.
To further support her and the AMO’s claims, Dr. Marget Werkheimer will be available at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 for an interview via phone at (267)-664-3821.
